McCall’s 6954 Knit Dress

Happy Sunday, folks! Normally I don’t post on the weekends, but I just had to get in here and share with  you this fun dress I sewed up this weekend. It was so simple, so flattering, AND fit my baby bump wonderfully well. As you probably know, I love a good high-low hem, and this pattern’s high-low hem is so dramatic… and I lurrrrve it =)

I sewed it in (another) one of my Happy Home knits and think it makes the most perfect summertime dress. In fact, I’ve got plans to make more.

Pattern: McCall’s 6954, view C

Size Sewn: Small

Adjustments made: None regarding fit; used a different type of finish than what the pattern called for on the neck and armholes.

Fit: Great. Will make again in the same size and definitely think it will fit post-baby as a loose swing dress.

Knit fabric from my Happy Home collection for Art Gallery Fabrics.

  1. The dress is so cute and you look so nice; cool & comfy!! Just what the doctor ordered I’ll bet!! My son was a November baby so I know what it’s like to be pregnant ALL SUMMER LONG….UGH! Stay cool Caroline and take care of yourself….

  2. What a perfect summer dress!! And I love how you’re managing to make maternity clothes that will work equally well as non-maternity clothes – so brilliant! I’m making a mental note of your garment choices “just in case” :)

  3. beautiful! I bet that it is so comfy!! Wish I would have thought to make a dress like this when I had my August baby – lots of sweating going on! :)
