A Sweet Riding Peplum

Friday was Valentine’s Day, if you didn’t already know 😉 and I dressed the part in a pink + white, sweet Riding Peplum (pattern by April Rhodes). I added a Peter Pan collar to the front for a little feminine touch and I LOVE how it turned out. Dontcha think adding a Peter Pan collar to anything makes it automatically “cuter”. Yeah, so do I!

We had a super low-key Valentine’s Day date. We stayed at home, made sushi, and fell asleep before 11PM. Wild, right? It was a lot of fun, though, and we really enjoyed each other’s company. <3 What did you and your significant other do to celebrate the holiday of l o v e?

  1. Hi Caroline! I just bought your Out and About pattern, and was wondering if it would be alright in a woven. If not, would this riding peplum be suitable? Do you have some patterns that are your go-to’s for woven fabric? Thank you.

    1. No, the Out and About dress must be made from a knit fabric. But yes, the peplum works great with woven fabric! You can peruse through my handmade fashion posts for some other patterns that are suitable for wovens! 😀

  2. I love the peter pan collar on the peplum! I just purchased April’s pattern and I think you’ve inspired me to add one to the first one I make….after I finish my Out and About Dress. :) We have an 8 month old, so the hubby and I put her to bed, called in an order at California Pizza Kitchen, watched My Fair Lady and drank a glass of wine. I think we made it to midnight. Low key is nice these days.

    1. Ah, you totally should- it adds such a flair of femininity! :) That sounds like a lovely evening + I can’t wait to see your out and about dress!!

  3. We went to a local pizza dive and had a giant pizza and a pitcher of beer! Wonderful to spend time at a table together. (we don’t have one in our tiny apartment at this time!)

  4. Haha my valentine day was as fun and wild as yours…. =) but I was surprised because I’ve received a really nice buch of flower (and my boyfirend isn’t a romantic guy!). And we also fell asleep before eleven!

Concerning your Peplum with the Peter Pan collar! It’s so cuteeeee =) I want the same one !!!
I really like all the fabrics you use !!!

  5. I’m trying to make a peplum with a peterpan collar, did you use a pattern? I’m trying to figure out how to get it on there- did you have to line your top?

    1. No, I just self-drafted it. Added the collar the the right side of the neckline and then added the facing on top of it. : )
