Ruby Dress for Fall

I think Fall is my favorite time of the year to get dressed. I mean, the colors, the layers, the boots. Endless possibilities! This outfit was no exception. I love the burnt orange + floral pairing of my new Ruby Dress layered with a casual jean jacket, brown tights, and my go-to booties!
When this fabric was released, I literally squealed. I see a LOT of fabric, and it takes quite a bit for me to geek out over  it these days, but this line? Oh, it spoke to me. I was in fabric heaven. (It is a new line from Free Spirit designed by Nel Whatmore, called Secret Garden. Fitting, right?)
The Ruby Dress, designed by Rae, is a quick-sew project that produces fantastic results. I chose to make my own double fold bias tape for the arm and neck holes and used a contrasting fabric to what I used for the bodice top. I think it made for a nice and detailed finish. Plus, with some leftover fabric, I made a tie to go around my waist. I love the fit and ease of this cute little dress. I’ve already purchased some voile to make a top like it as well!
