Dressing For Fall…

I am so excited about starting to sew my Fall wardrobe. Ever since I’ve learned to better sew garments, they’re really all I can think about. I actually dream of having a 95% handmade closet one day. Wouldn’t that be neat?
I’ve pulled a few looks that I’m really loving and paired the patterns and fabric with some killer accessories. Hopefully you’ll be inspired to sew some Fall-ish clothes for yourself– even if it’s still 100*+ where you are!

When I saw that Joel Dewberry’s new line was up for grabs, I hopped over and immediately bought this rayon with the intention of pairing it with Megan Nielsen’s Cascade Skirt. What a LOVELY combo. To calm down the florals, I thought it would be nice to pair the skirt with a solid top. This is hard for me because sewing with solids is just plain bo-ring. Can I get an “amen!”? I’m hoping to learn to love it… especially if my wardrobe is going to be mostly hand made.
I’ve been dying over these TOMS wedge boots. Can someone please give me an early Christmas present?! K. Thanks. Also, who doesn’t love a perfect statement necklace? I love the pairing of the turquoise with the florals that will be in the skirt. aaahh!
**UPDATE: THIS OUTFIT NOW POSTED HERE!**

The Sureau Dress looks like a fun one to shorten the hemline on and wear with a pair of leggings.. so that’s my plan with this outfit. LUCKILY, I am enrolled in Miranda’s (of One Little Minute) class on how to draft and sew your own leggings at Sewing Summit— I’m bringing some knit I’ve had for a while to try them out on and then hopefully will move on to all the knits  and have an entire rainbow of leggings!
I am obsessed with all things gold, hence the glittery gold flats and another one of my favorites from Lisa Leonard. A girl can’t have tooooo many necklaces, right?!
Have you been dreaming up any outfits lately?
Happy Wednesday, y’all!

  1. I own all 3 of those patterns too! I have made like 6 of those briars. So fast and easy! Did you see the lace one on my blog? I need to blog about my 2 cascade skirts. They turn out beautifully! I can’t wait to try the sureau. It’s still a little too warm in Charleston for it. Can’t wait to see your finished projects!!!!!

  2. I am a sucker for shoes, and those Tom’s make me drool, and love love those flats. Pair them with the patterns and fabrics you have selected means sheer classy! Anxiously waiting for the progress reports!
