Sometimes I have 10,000 things to do, and yet I find an entire morning to spend sewing a dress. That’s how inspiration is, though, you know. When it hits you must be in-tune to it. That’s what happened with THIS little dress.
Several weeks ago, Kristen at Skirt as Top posted an Instagram photo of her little wearing a dress she had made for her. I fell in love with the fabric all over again. You see, I had seen the fabric, and played around with the idea of using it for a piece of clothing but never knew how it would look, exactly.
After seeing that dress, I knew it could be done. What I didn’t know was whether or not I would look like a four-year-old…
Dress: Handmade, Patterh: Shift Dress Pattern, Fabric: Anna Maria Horner Linen // Necklace: Caroline G. Shop // Shoes: Modcloth
I think that I, in fact, didn’t look like a four-year-old and ended up wearing it to my 25th Birthday dinner celebration!
I used The Shift Dress pattern and altered it a little (left off the sleeves, graded them in and made the neckline a little tiny bit lower) and I love how it turned out. I even took the time to line up the butterflies down the middle from AND middle back.. oh yes! 😉
What have you been sewing lately? Ever been inspired by children’s clothing to make you own?
