Project Sewn: Week One // Black & White

I am SO excited to be sharing with you my first project for Project Sewn (a BRAND NEW blog dedicated to sewing Women’s clothing).
Liz and Elizabeth of Simple Simon and Co are running it along the same lines as Project Run and Play (everyone’s favorite place to see pretty kiddos in adorable handmade clothes) and I am thrilled (and nervous) they asked me to join in as one of their very first designers!
If you haven’t had the chance, I highly suggest you run over and check out what they have been up to and meet the other designers I’ll be competing against. They are ohhhhhh so talented. Like, crazy talented. I am almost scared to be in the same room as them! For Week One of Project Sewn, the theme was Black and White.

I channeled my inner Audrey Hepburn and came up with this adorable dress::

I took the simple Shift Dress from Favorite Things, left off the sleeves, added a peter pan collar, and used shirring all the way around the waist of the dress (instead of elastic just in the back). I added a black bow belt to complete the outfit. So what do you think? Did I nail it? If you think so, run over to Project Sewn and give me your vote!

Want to sew along with us? YOU CAN! And you can link up your work, too!
Here are the themes so you can sew ahead::
WEEK ONE (May 6th): Black and White
WEEK TWO (May 13th): The Sundress
WEEK THREE (May 20th): Totally 80’s
WEEK FOUR (May 27th): Your Signature Style
