Wearing Handmade: The Staple Dress

I was perusing Instagram the other day and came across a photo of a dress that someone had made with the tag #thestapledress. So, being curious I clicked and came upon a whole collection of photos of this Staple Dress. I found the source and immediately purchased because it looked simple, cute, and like a pattern you could do a whole lot with.
I was right (pats myself on the back…) this pattern was SO FUN to make and came together in a matter of a couple of hours!
I chose to do a “drop hem” and think it added a cute touch.

I sewed mine out of some very old Anna Maria Horner voile from her pastry line that came out several years ago. I love the way voile feels– its the perfect Spring dress. (Note: I had to wear a slip under it because it is a little see-through, but this is totally worth it!)

  1. O.Em.Gee. Must make this dress for the terribly hot summers I will endure. I love the idea of the light weight fabric! You look great. Yay!
