Guest Post: Megan from Everyday Nonsense from a Nonsensical Gal

Hello, friends. I’ve got some awesome ladies lined up to post on my blog for the next several days! Hopefully you’ll learn some fun stuff and meet some new blogger friends. Please share the love with these beautiful friends of mine!

Megan from Everyday Nonsense from a Nonsensical Gal is here to share with us a fun and quick home decor tutorial!

I am so excited to be guest posting for Caroline! I’m Megan and I love crafting and blogging and meeting new folks. So this seemed like a great opportunity! Plus I love all the DIY’s that Caroline does, so I wanted to jump on the DIY train as well!

Book Wreath DIY

I am no whiz in the crafty world yet, but I do like to pretend I am. I got a sewing machine as a wedding present and have used it on two things so far. I am not 100% comfortable with that bad boy yet. But, give me a glue gun? Well that’s a whole other story. I can hot glue anything like a pro! So imagine my excitement when I came across this DIY for a book wreath. Yes please!
This wreath is fabulous right?! Right. Well, so is Lindsay. On her blog she gives a step by step tutorial and video on how to create this masterpiece. I just followed the directions and bam!
(Please disregard my ugly ivory walls, yuck!)
I couldn’t be happier with how it turned it!
These are the supplies I used:
10″ foam wreath from Dollar Tree
Paperback novel from Dollar Tree
gray craft paint
Glue gun & glue sticks
A few paper towels
Directions:
1. I painted the outside pages of the book with the gray craft paint. Instead of a paint brush (like I said, I’m not that crafty so I didn’t have one) I just dabbed it on with the paper towels.
2. Once dry, I ripped out the pages. That was fun.
3. On Lindsay’s blog she shows a tutorial on how to roll the pages. Basically, you roll and glue the edges, but it makes much more sense if you follow the video.
4.  Arrange on wreath. Here is where I differed slightly from Lindsay. She suggests making a row of pages and then flipping the wreath over so that becomes the bottom layer. I forgot to flip it, so I just filled it all in instead. (I was watching Idol, I got distracted!).
5.  Hang and Enjoy!
